As of 6/16/25...

As of Monday, June 9th, Saulsbury Road construction begins! This means Saulsbury Road will be a one-lane road to and from the Saulsbury Bridge Recreational Area. We highly recommend using one of the alternate routes mentioned below (Lindle or Seven Springs to intersect back with Saulsbury Road). Keep an eye on this banner for the latest updates!

Hey Volunteers!

We're glad you're here.

Thank you so much for your willingness to help make Christian Day Camp a success! Without you, so many kiddos wouldn't be able to experience the beauty of God's creation and learn about God's goodness.

Saulsbury Road Construction

We're aware that a portion of Saulsbury Road may be closed during camp weeks. To avoid a one-lane road on Saulsbury, use the pink highlighted routes. The yellow section will be under construction.

General driving directions as you're coming from the Highway 61 Bypass in Muscatine:

1. Turn north onto Mulberry

2. Turn left onto Bayfield Road

3. Take Lindle or Seven Springs to intersect back with Saulsbury Road

DO NOT take Keokuk. Keokuk does not go straight through to Saulsbury

Groups

For whichever group you are leading, you will receive a folder with all the information you will need. This includes:

  • Check-In / Check-Out Sheets

  • Maps

  • Schedules with Stations

  • Lunch Menus

  • Extra Games / Activities List

  • Any other necessary info

Check-In / Check-Out

Check-In

  • Upon arrival, use your check-in sheet to mark each child present or absent.

  • If there is prior knowledge of an absence, this will be shared.

Check-Out

  • After closing, use the same sheet and have pick-up parents or adults sign their child out. This ensures safety of those attending camp!

Group Totes

Every group will have a group tote! Each is labeled with group color and can be used to keep all group items in order. Included in your group tote will be:

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug spray

  • First aid kit

  • Daily requirements

  • Group folder

  • Tarp

  • Nametags

  • Walkie-Talkie

Kids Bags

Every kiddo is bringing a bag! These will have various items based on individual needs, but most importantly, a change of clothes and a water bottle!

Please make sure kids are refilling their water bottles and drinking plenty of water (even when it isn't hot out!) Consider adding in a scheduled sunscreen and bug spray time (after lunch often works well!) to keep your kids protected from sun and bugs!

Wristbands + Nametags

We use wristbands + nametags to help keep track of our Christian Day Camp kiddos! These are other items that will be in your totes. Upon arrival, make sure your campers have their wristband and nametag on. Please make sure they put these back in the group tote at the end of the day. However, if they take it home and forget it, we will provide extras!

Where do I park?

Volunteers for Christian Day Camp can park in the Lodge parking lot or the Boat Ramp parking lot. On the map, see the two "Volunteer Parking" spots for more details.

Expectations of Leaders

Time commitment ~ Arrival + Departure times

  • 8am on Tuesday (group leaders in group areas; others helping direct)

  • 8:30 Wednesday - Friday

  • Stay after each day to assess how the day went and any announcements for the next day - meet in the lodge

Kid Attendance

  • As you might have guessed, keeping track of your kiddos is your number 1 priority! Throughout the day, please do a head count or role call to make sure everyone is where they need to be!

Involvement with kids

  • Be a shepherd, not a chaperone!

  • No clumping of adults. We are here to learn, grow, and teach these kiddos about our Lord and all the good things that come with being a follower of Him.

What to bring

  • Bike

  • Backpack

  • Waterbottle

Find ways to engage with your groups amidst any downtime! Whether it is while you're eating lunch or on a peaceful bike ride! Point out all the amazing things about God's creation.

Lastly, good Christian conduct is another crucial aspect of Christian Day Camp. We want to reflect and provide a solid example for these growing kids so bring your A game!

Communication

While at camp, cell service is touch and go so we rely on walkie talkies. These will be in your group totes ready to go so please have them on you at all times while at camp.

You are more than welcome to try texting / calling, but if trying to reach someone at camp, walkie talkies are your best bet!
